(Ottawa) - The Community Foundation of Ottawa is pleased to be joining Urbandale Construction in commemorating its 30th anniversary in 2009. The company is establishing a special $100,000 community fund on behalf of all its new home buyers. Urbandale’s “Foundation of Giving” fund will be allocated to local charities to be selected by each of its customers throughout the year. “Urbandale has always felt joy when giving back to the community of Ottawa. With the Foundation of Giving program we are able to share this experience with all our new home buyers in our 30th year” said Richard Sachs, President of Urbandale Construction.
Established in 1979, Urbandale Construction is an eco-friendly leader in Ottawa’s building industry. It set the pace for local home construction early on by building all new houses to the ENERGY STAR® standard, and was the recipient of the Ontario ENERGY STAR Builder of the Year Award in 2005. “We’re thrilled that this reputable, home-grown company has chosen the Community Foundation as its vehicle for helping new customers make a lasting contribution to the community in which they are building their homes and lives,” says Barbara McInnes, President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Ottawa. “Urbandale is really living up to its reputation by building a solid foundation for Ottawa home buyers in every way, and by establishing a program that allows their investment to serve the community so generously.”
The Urbandale Construction “Foundation of Giving” program will culminate in the distribution of grants at the end of 2009 to charities selected by this year’s new home buyers. Grant amounts to be made from the fund will be determined by the number of homes Urbandale sells throughout the year.
