The Community Foundation of Ottawa celebrates its 20th anniversary on Nov. 6


(Ottawa) – The Community Foundation of Ottawa is inviting the entire community to a 20th anniversary celebration of Ottawa’s philanthropic spirit on Tues., Nov. 6 at the Library and Archives Canada Auditorium from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The event will be hosted by James R. Nininger, Chair of the Community Foundation’s Board of Governors, and Barbara McInnes, Foundation President & CEO.

Feature presentations of the evening will include video reminiscences of founding Board members Grete Hale, Peter Doherty and Gordon McCay; a rap / throat singing performance by the Inuit youth group Inuratigiit of their original song “Time to Shine”; and a sing-along with Russ Mills, former Chair of the Community Foundation’s Board of Governors. A reception will follow the program, generously sponsored by Thyme and Again Creative Catering.

With current assets exceeding $96 million, the Community Foundation of Ottawa manages over 550 funds that are designated towards enhancing the quality of life in our community. In 2006, the Community Foundation distributed over $5 million in grants and disbursements to charitable organizations, for a total of $36 million since its inception in 1987.

The Community Foundation of Ottawa is a public, non-profit organization created by and for the people of Ottawa. It connects donors who care with causes that matter and serves as a trusted resource for addressing issues and leveraging opportunities in the community. It attracts and manages a growing endowment, the invested earnings of which provide grants to charitable organizations.
